Let’s face it, who wouldn’t? The truth, however, is mother nature rarely gives us the smile we want. That’s why it’s often the case teenagers see us to fit braces on their teeth to fix their crooked teeth or to close up the spaces that occur naturally between teeth. Teenagers get their teeth straightened for all sorts of reasons but what about if you’re passed your teens and desire straight, beautiful teeth? A lot of adults think the prospect of wearing metal braces for an extended period of time is just not worth the hassle of stares and perceived judgement from friends, family and work colleagues.

Invisalign fits over your upper and lower sets of teeth in the form of a clear plastic aligner, like a mouth guard but invisible. Some patients wear only the top or bottom aligner but most use two clear aligners. The aligners are made of a special thermoplastic material that fit perfectly over the teeth that need to be moved. Every patient is different which means each aligner is custom-designed to fit over the teeth and slowly move them into the desired position. Because every patient is unique the time needed to straighten teeth so you get the desired smile you want various from case to case. If you have one or two teeth that are slightly crooked or skew then this would be considered a minor case and you may need to wear you invisalign aligners for no more than 5 or 6 months. For more complex cases where multiple teeth and gaps need to straightened and closed you may need to wear the aligners for one to two years.
